Wait Upon the Lord

>Restless and weary, urgently i sought Holy Spirit’s embrace.

>There in the quiet of my heart, i uttered a few sincere words,

Father… i am tired…

…silence…

>Then, a calm, comforting, recognizable voice,

I am here

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

 wait;

qâvâh, kaw-vaw’; a primitive root; to bind together (perhaps by twisting), i.e. collect; (figuratively) to expect:—gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait (for, on, upon).

upon the Lord;

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Hebrews 12:1-3

Over the past few months, the Lord has been teaching me what it looks like to walk in the Spirit. One thing is to hear the things, but to actually walk in them is entirely different! For a long time, i understood these sayings primarily through the mind and human reason; a limiting mold that has been admittedly hard for me to escape.

I have learned a lot about faith, taking risks, operating without full knowledge, and taking on a heavenly perspective. One second we may find ourselves simply going about our day, and without even realizing it, moments later we are praying for someone as they share a piece of their heart, teary-eyed. Faith– a crazy concept, it blows my mind. Isn’t it wonderful how Holy Spirit moves? When walking in faith, it’s effortless. Like walking on a cloud. Being lost in His presence. A mere spectator to His leading. I have yet so much to learn… and i am forever thankful for God’s incredible patience and grace!

A few points that I continue to meditate on:

•To wait for the Lord, to bind ourselves together to Him. As tight as a rope with many strands, to intertwine ourselves so much with Jesus that we become not as He increases in us.

•To rely not on our faith, but in His faithfulness. To hope in His faithfulness in all things to a degree of assured expectation.

•To fervently seek Him every day. Approaching the throne of grace with reverence, confidence, patience.

“The branch of the vine does not worry, and toil, and rush here to seek for sunshine, and there to find rain. No; it rests in union and communion with the vine…Let us so abide in the Lord Jesus.”

-Hudson Taylor

As we wait upon the Lord fully surrendered, we soar. Resting upon deep waters of grace; immersed in agape love; sold out to Yahweh. A flock of mighty eagles, free and unhindered. A radical people full of the Spirit!

To God be the glory forever and ever! Amen

  1. So proud of you I can’t wait to hear the stories of God’s work you’ve been apart of and witnessed!!

  2. It never ceases to amaze me how the Spirit guides people to open up and share some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. How at one moment you can be riding in an Uber and at the next moment, you are learning about the driver and their story. Tony, I’ve seen time and time again how you put people at ease and how the Holy Spirit within you makes people sense that they can trust you and share hard things with you. Thankful to get to know you more and to get to journey alongside of you.

  3. Wowow you have so many good things to say Tony. Thanks for sharing what He’s teaching you – I’m looking forward to seeing where He takes you next!! 🙂

  4. Watching you fervently seek after God and allow Him to teach, show, grow, and encourage you has taught me a lot! I’m honored and blessed to do this race with you, and to have you on my team!
